The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) is set to conduct a re-survey of public utility jeepneys (PUJ) in Bacolod City, from September 8 to 20.
In a press conference, Bacolod City Mayor Greg Gasataya said that the survey aims to assess the transport needs of the city and address concerns related to the public utility vehicle modernization.
“After they create an evaluation and assessment then they will come up with a recommendation,” Gasataya said.
The LTFRB central office will carry out the re-survey to assess the ideal number of public utility vehicles per existing routes and evaluate the feasibility of establishing new ones.
It will also include a plan to transfer operators to other routes in cases where an oversupply of units exists.
The mayor said that the city will support the initiative in terms of logistics.
Meanwhile, Councilor Wilson Gamboa, vice-chairman of the Committee on Transportation, met with the LTFRB and local transport groups on August 14, regarding the issue of unconsolidated jeepneys and other concerns.*
