LTO issues show cause to minor in viral stunt

• THERESA MAE DULMAN

The Land Transportation Office – Negros Island Region (LTO-NIR) issued a show cause order against a minor observed performing a dangerous ‘superman’ stunt while speeding along the highway of Don Salvador Benedicto, Negros Occidental.

The incident came to the attention of authorities after a video was posted on social media by a content creator on March 2.

Verification conducted through the Land Transportation Management System confirmed that the individual involved is a minor and does not possess a driver’s license.

Following the circulation of the footage, the minor and his father surrendered to the LTO District Office in San Carlos City.

The order directs the involved parties to appear before the LTO-NIR Regional Office in Bacolod City within five days to provide an explanation regarding the incident.

As part of the directive, the parties were also instructed to surrender the motorcycle used in the stunt.

The LTO is currently evaluating potential sanctions, which may include the disqualification of the minor from obtaining a driver’s license in the future.*
