The grand opening of Luk Foo Palace in Bacolod City during the celebration of Valentine’s Day, Friday, was led by Negros Occidental Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer, Bacolod Representative Greg Gasataya, acting Bacolod Mayor El Cid Familiaran, Councilors Renecito Novero and Claudio Puentevella, as well as Singcang Barangay Captain Caesar Distrito.
Also joining the vice governor and city officials were John Alonte and Willy Au, BREDCO president and director, respectively, both representing business tycoon Lucio Co, Bacolod’s adopted son and honorary Mayor in 2024.
Luk Foo Palace is a luxurious fine dining Cantonese restaurant located within the compound of Acacia Hotel at the Bacolod Reclamation Area. Its official opening started with a mass Friday at 9:30 a.m, followed by a program.
In his welcome address, Alonte recalled that it was almost the same day, last year when Co was conferred by the Bacolod City Sanggunian a special award and recognition of honorary mayor and adopted son of Bacolod, during the city’s annual BacoLaodiat Festival celebration.

Alonte also quoted Co’s acceptance speech, where he expressed his gratitude to the city for the special recognition bestowed upon him as Bacolod’s adopted son and honorary mayor in 2024. Co considered Bacolod special to him, to his family and business interest.
Co also said that their presence in Bacolod has grown tremendously and that they look forward to creating more jobs and greater livelihood opportunities for the people.
Alonte said Luk Foo Palace has always been synonymous to authentic Cantonese cuisine backed with the tradition of culinary expertise.
He said Co has opened two Luk Foo Palace restaurants in Acacia Hotel Davao and the second in Alabang. Both restaurants, true to its Cantonese heritage, are under the tutelage of genuine Hong Kong chefs.
Luk Foo Palace Bacolod offers Cantonese cuisine crafted and expertly prepared by their head executive chef Jimmy Chan, who also comes from Hong Kong, he said.
The restaurant is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Mondays thru Sundays.*
