M/T-01, IOTA-ST68 win respective games

Jason Yap scored 9 of his 17 points from behind the arc to help M/T-01 beat Ultra 5 in the 40-up category of the ongoing Fil-Sino 1st Accelera Basketball Cup. He also grabbed the player of the game honors and was backed up by Ogie Ureta, Jeff Maningo, and Harry Siendo with 12 points apiece.

The game started tight, with both teams tied at 21 going into the second quarter. The M/T began to pull away in the second frame, and then built an 18-point lead to open the fourth. The Ultras simply had no answers as the M/T soared to victory.

Matt Deles paced Ultra 5 with 19 points, followed by Doc Emil Guanzon and Ron Taganile with 10 points each.

In the other game between IOTA-ST 68 and Omikron, the back and forth affair led to the former with a two point advantage after one quarter, 26-24. However, Omikron were able to bounce back in the second quarter, and took a three point lead going into the second half.

IOTA were able to regain momentum in the third, outscoring their opponent by ten points to take the lead back as the game went into the final frame. Omikron was still determined to win, gathering their strength and keeping their foot on the gas to stay in the game, however their effort was not enough to complete the comeback as IOTA-ST 68 beat Omikron AT, 94-88.

Ben Buñol led IOTA-ST 68 with 29 points, followed by Archie Moreno’s 18 points and player of the game honors. Kedrick Deloria led Omikron AT with 19, Atty. Rodolfo Sabio tallied 12, followed by DK Equipaje and Ronald Delada with 11 each.*
