The City Government has started distributing to barangay frontliners the 25,000 face shields recently donated by the Office of President Rodrigo Duterte.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia said, “This provision from President Duterte is most welcome and appreciated. Every shred of help from the national government will always go a long way to helping in our fight against COVID-19 considering that we are trying to conserve our resources for the City’s vaccination program. May more of this help come our way because our people need them badly.”
“We also thank Presidential Assistant for the Visayas, Secretary Michael Lloyd Dino, for facilitating this needed assistance in the midst of the COVID-19 crises,” Leonardia added in a press release from the city.
Executive assistant Butch Soliguen said they distributed yesterday about 18,000 pieces of face shields to frontliners in the 61 barangays of the City.
Today, they will distribute another 1,500 pieces to City Hall frontliners.
Soliguen said their staff will also distribute 5,500 pieces to market vendors in three major public markets, and store personnel in commercial establishments in the downtown area.*
