Visitors of Mambukal Resort and Wildlife Sanctuary in Brgy.Minoyan, Murcia, Negros Occidental, will have more areas to explore, starting this coming Holy Week, with no rate increases at the resort, despite the surging prices of fuel as a result of the Middle East armed conflict.

Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz disclosed on Tuesday that additional amenities, such as a coffee shop across the spa, Camp Nolan trail, and the re-engineered river at the back of the resort food court, will be opened to the public after the blessings and inauguration on March 26.

Diaz also announced that they have already stabilized the slope of the first waterfall, and are now in the process of completing the 100 to 200 meters of railings going to the waterfalls.

The provincial government of Negros Occidental is also setting up tree tents to further strengthen its eco-tourism attractions. It will be established in selected sections of the resort and wildlife sanctuary, which will be enclosed by fences to secure the campers and nature lovers.

Diaz also announced the completion of three high-end villas with a bonfire camp at the center.

The completion of the landscaping works is also ongoing.

The electrical system at the resort was also improved, by establishing an underground wiring system, and the putting up two generator sets to ensure the uninterrupted power supply.

Mambukal Resort and Wildlife Sanctuary is known for its hot springs, waterfalls, and rich wildlife.

Trekking trails from the first to sixth waterfalls may soon be opened to the public.

Diaz assured Negrenses and visiting tourists that Mambukal will remain to be low cost and an ecological-environmental option for all, stressing that there will be no increase of its rates, despite the fuel crisis.

With additional amenities at the resort, Diaz said he is optimistic that more tourists will visit Mambucal, as they aimed to surpass the 3,000 day visitors logged in a month last year.

Kanlaon Volcano remains restive, but it has spared the resort, he added.*
