A man believed to be a “salvage” victim, discovered by barangay tanods Saturday morning at Bangga Pepe in Hacienda Tinihaban, Brgy. San Jose, EB Magalona, has been identified by the police.
The victim was identified by the EB Magalona police as Fritz Buenafe, 32, of Brgy. Lantad, Silay City, Negros Occidental.
Buenafe, according to PCapt. Eric Doronilla, EB Magalona police chief, succumbed to multiple gunshot injuries in the head, right hand and chest. However, responding police probers did not recover any empty shell from the scene of incident, which could indicate that the victim may have been dumped in the area, about 25 meters away from the national highway.
Prior to the discovery of his lifeless body, the victim was reportedly abducted from his residence in Brgy. Lantad, Silay City.
When discovered by a hacienda watchman, Doronilla said the victim was half-naked, hogtied, with both eyes covered by duct tape.
Initial police investigations showed that the victim was arrested for theft case in Silay City in 2016. But his name was not included in the drug watch list of the Silay City Police Station, Doronilla said.
The motive of the incident has yet to be established by the EB Magalona police.
On the other hand, two other persons also died in separate stabbing incidents on September 3 in cities of Bago and Himamaylan, all in Negros Occidental.
Ferdinand Flores Jr., 25, was declared dead on arrival at a hospital, after he was allegedly stabbed by his elder brother, Nike, 28, on Sept. 2 at Purok Mahida-iton, Brgy. Sampinit, Bago City, police said.
Police investigations showed that the victim and his mother had a heated altercation after a drinking session with his friend near their residence.
Ferdinand attacked and tried to stab his mother. While being pacified, the victim also stabbed his father, who sustained injuries in the left finger and his back, police investigations further showed.
Nike, who responded to the incident, managed to disarm his brother of his weapon which he also used in stabbing the latter.
A 46-year-old farmer identified as Jeffrey Dedase, alias Bimbo, was also stabbed dead by an unidentified suspect on Saturday at Purok 1, in Brgy. Cabadiangan, Himamaylan City.
Dedase, of Bryg. Payao, Binalbagan, succumbed to stab wounds in the back and was declared dead on arrival at the Valeriano Gatuslao Memorial District Hospital in Himamaylan City, police said.*
