Man convicted for BCGC wire theft

A Bago City resident was convicted for the crime of theft for stealing a two meters of streetlight electric wiring and a backpack at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) grounds last March 20, a press release from the Bacolod City Government Center said.

Anthony James Arnaiz pleaded guilty before the Municipal Trial Court in Cities Branch 5 for Theft under Article 308 in relation to Article 309 of the Revised Penal Code.

Arnaiz was arrested by one of the guards of the Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) who was authorized by the City of Bacolod to file the criminal case before the City Prosecutor’s Office.

“The city has decided to pursue the case against Arnaiz to show that we are serious in running after those responsible for committing petty crimes within the vicinity of BCGC,” said Jose Marty Go, secretary to the mayor.

Go added that Bacolod City Mayor Greg Gasataya has directed the POSO to beef up security especially along the perimeters of the BCGC.*
