A late-night gun attack on Vervena Street, Barangay 30, Bacolod City, claimed the life of a 45-year-old on Wednesday, February 25.
The victim, identified as Harold Barrios, a resident of Purok Bagong Buhay of the same Barangay, succumbed to a fatal gunshot wound to the neck after being shot by an unidentified suspect.
Investigators are eyeing revenge as the primary motive.
Authorities believe the attack may be linked to a past conflict involving an individual that the victim had allegedly physically assaulted.
Initial investigation revealed that residents living near the area heard a single gunshot shortly before discovering the victim.
The crime operatives recovered one empty shell, one deformed slug, and one kitchen knife at the crime scene.
Police Station 6 received the report at 10:35 p.m. and, with the help of Barangay tanods, rushed the victim to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.*
