A 52-year-old man lost his life after his tricycle collided with a truck along the National Road in Sitio Naga, Barangay Su-ay, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental, on the evening of Valentine’s Day, February 14.
The victim, identified as alias ‘Ricky,’ a resident of Coloso Street, Barangay 6, Kabankalan City, was operating a Kawasaki Bajaj 100cc tricycle when the crash occurred at approximately 7:20 p.m.
The truck involved an Isuzu model driven by a man identified as ‘John,’ a resident of Purok 5, Barangay Bantayan, Kabankalan City.
According to the initial report, the victim was traveling toward Kabankalan City from Himamaylan City, while the truck was moving in the opposite direction, when the victim reportedly lost control of his handlebars, causing the tricycle to swerve into the opposite lane and crash directly into the oncoming truck.
The victim sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
The truck driver voluntarily surrendered to the police authorities, while the victim’s family has indicated that they will not be filing charges against the driver. Both parties have instead agreed to settle the matter privately.*
