A 19-year-old man was arrested following a fatal mauling incident that claimed the life of his companion in Calatrava, Negros Occidental, on the night of May 2.
The victim, identified by the alias ‘Ed,’ 22, was declared dead on arrival at the Calatrava Municipal Hospital after sustaining multiple head injuries.
The suspect, identified as alias ‘Boy,’ 19, is currently in the custody of the Calatrava Municipal Police Station (MPS).
Initial investigations conducted by the Calatrava MPS revealed that the two residents of Barangay Macasilao had been engaged in a drinking session beside a river in Sitio Agtatahor II.
While the pair were walking home, a heated argument broke out between them that quickly escalated into a physical confrontation.
During the fight, the suspect reportedly retrieved a wooden stick embedded with nails and struck the victim repeatedly on the head.
The suspect fled the scene immediately after the assault.
The Calatrava MPS said the suspect will be facing homicide charges.*
