Man survives gun attack, stabs assailant dead

A 48-year-old victim turned into a suspect and is now wanted by the authorities after he stabbed to death his rival who allegedly shot him first in the leg during a heated encounter on Friday at Sitio Martisan, Barangay Winaswasan, Calatrava, Negros Occidental.

Initial investigation by the Calatrava Municipal Police Station revealed that the victim, identified as the 38-year-old alias “Ben”, was allegedly walking toward Sitio Martisan when he met alias “Richard”.

A heated argument ensued between the two men, where the victim allegedly shot the suspect using an unknown firearm, hitting the latter on his leg.

Despite sustaining a gunshot wound, the suspect, who was carrying an unidentified bladed object, was able to stab the victim.

The victim suffered severe wounds which caused his death. After the attack, the suspect immediately fled toward the upper portion of Sitio Martisan, and was now wanted in their area.

Meanwhile, the cadaver of the suspect was brought to a funeral parlor for proper disposition.*
