Manapla tricycle crash puts passenger in critical condition

A road crash transpired at the National Highway, Barangay Tortosa, Manapla, Negros Occidental, on Wednesday, landing a tricycle passenger in critical condition in the hospital.

Initial investigation by the Manapla Municipal Police Station revealed that a black Kawasaki Barako tricycle driven by a 35-year-old male with one male passenger in the sidecar, both residents of Crossing Busay, Barangay Punta Mesa, and travelling from Victorias City towards Manapla town.

Meanwhile, a blue Sinotruck bus driven by a 42-year-old male from Aglipay, Rizal, Nueva Ecija, was traversing the opposite direction.

At the place of the incident, the front tire of the motorcycle suddenly exploded, causing it to swerve into the inner lane of the opposite direction and collide with the left portion of the truck.

As a result of the collision, the passenger of the motorcycle sustained a head injury.

The injured was immediately brought by Manapla Rescue personnel to Kaayong Lawas Hospital, Victorias City, for medical treatment. Based on a further report, the victim is in critical condition due to a severe head injury. Police have withheld the identity of the victim.

Both drivers of the two vehicles involved were unharmed.*
