Mangrove eco-trail project gets P1.2M

The mangrove eco-trail project in Brgy. VI-A, Victorias City, Negros Occidental, yesterday received P1.2 million assistance from the provincial government of Negros Occidental, under its Coastal Wetlands Rehabilitation and Conservation Program.

Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson and Provincial Environment Management Office chief Julie Ann Bedrio yesterday turned over the financial assistance to the beneficiaries, members of the Pasil Fisherfolks Association.

In a statement, the provincial government said the project involves construction of a mangrove training center and mangrove boardwalk which aims to provide livelihood assistance to project beneficiaries.

Of the amount, Punong Brgy. Anna Mae Claro said P800,000 will be allocated for the construction of the multi-purpose hall, while the remaining P400,000 will be used for the Mangrove Board Walk.

The financial assistance will also ensure the continuation of seedling production and maintenance of the Provincial Mangrove Nursery, as well as strengthen Information, Education, Communication activities at the Mangrove Training Center, Claro said.*
