Participants of the mangrove planting activity in Barangay Punta Taytay, Bacolod City Saturday spearheaded by the Rotaract of Bacolod North*

The Rotaract Club of Bacolod North headed by Joy Ann Ardiente, District Rotaract chair, conducted a mangrove planting activity in Barangay Punta-Taytay, Bacolod City Saturday with the support of about 200 volunteers coming from different organizations and institution in the city.

The participants were able to plant 1300 mangrove shoots as part of the club’s flagship project Viridi Mundi 5.0, a press release from the organizers said.

Joining the activity were representatives of BACIWA Prime Water, Rotary Club of Bacolod North, Rotaract Clubs of RID 3850, Rotaract Club of Granada, Rotaract Club of Marapara, Rotaract Club of Metro Bacolod, Rotaract Club of USLS – Metro Bacolod,

Interact Club of NOHS – Metro Bacolod, ICare PSV, Interact Club of Negros Occidental High School, Luisa Medel NHS Boy Scouts of the Philippines, Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine National Police PRO6, 303rd Infantry (Brown Eagle) Brigade, Ens Roxanne Sharon G Samillano of 107th Squadron PCGA, and 79 Infantry Division.          

BACIWA Watershed (PAC) headed by Division Manager Michael Soliva donated 1,300 pieces of propagules.

The mangrove planting activity was supported by Shirley Mendoza Maghari, president of the Rotary Club of Bacolod North, Philippine Coast Guard Northern Negros Occidental headed by PO1 Marvie Gesulgon, 303rd IB, PNP PRO6 Anti Kidnapping Group, headed by PMS Joshua Tupas Barile and NOHS *
