Marapara Rotary champions oral health in Sipalay

The Rotary Club of Bacolod-Marapara joined forces with partners and volunteers in Sipalay City recently to mark the launch of the National Oral Health Month celebration.

According to a press release, the event brought together the Philippine Dental Association, the Provincial Health Office, private practitioner dentists, pharmaceutical companies, Sipalay’s mobile kitchen, CHO IT encoders, CHO Family Planning and Adolescent Office, Mayor Maria Gina Lizares and her staff, the Manlucahoc council, midwives, barangay health workers, nutrition scholars and local enforcers. Their collective effort ensured the success of this important community initiative.

Over 500 patients and recipients benefited from the services provided. Marapara Rotary contributed significantly by distributing dental medicines and vitamins and by spearheading a dental mission aimed at bringing essential oral care to those who have not seen a dentist in years.

The club also extended support through practical gifts, including 150 pairs of slippers to provide comfort and protection, 120 hygiene kits with vitamins to help families stay healthy and a fun treat of a local favorite ‘dirty’ ice cream shared after procedures — a sweet way to celebrate the day’s success and connect with the community.

“This mission was a team effort, and we are grateful to all our partners and volunteers who made it possible,” said Club President April Kitagawa. “Sometimes even small acts — whether dental treatment, a pair of slippers or a scoop of ice cream — can mean a lot to those who receive them.”*
