Marapara Rotary donates wheelchairs

There were many happy tears as three stroke patients and one polio victim were given a new lease of life with wheelchairs donated by the Rotary Club of Bacolod-Marapara. Until recently they had spent much of their lives indoors, but thanks to the wheelchairs, they’re now mobile and have the freedom to participate in more daily activities.

Receiving the wheelchairs were stroke patients Rolly Brondo and Eneseta Pabedron from E.B. Magalona, Alicia Treyes Pandagani from Hinigaran, and polio victim April Boy Java from Victorias City.

“These wheelchairs are part of our commitment to help our communities,” said club president, Virgil Rupert “Igie” Villarosa. “We are most grateful to Rotary International for supplying the chairs through a project of past Rotary district governor Mate Espina.”

The Rotary Club of Bacolod – Marapara undertakes many community outreach activities each year, including medical missions, coastal clean-ups, feeding programs, school supplies, computer literacy programs, mangrove planting and support for eco-tourism projects.*
