For the second year in a row, the Bacolod Yuhum Foundation is hosting the crowd-favorite MassKaNamit Culinary Showdown, which will take place from October 15 to 17 at the SMX Convention Center, a press release from BYF said.

The competition is expected to draw hundreds of participants from different culinary and hospitality management schools across Negros Island, all set to demonstrate their skills. Renowned celebrity chefs will be judging the event and will bring their expertise and flair to the competition.

“Nineteen schools have confirmed their participation, including institutions from Kabankalan, Dumaguete, San Carlos, Iloilo and more,” said Food Committee chairperson Ana Tison.

She added that guest chefs will share their “experiences and some trade secrets” during the scheduled seminar on October 15, as well as throughout competition in the following days.

The competition will include table setting, flower arrangement and various categories for food and desserts.

Joining the list of celebrity chefs are Robby Goco; cookbook author Nina Daza-Puyat; Myrna Segismundo; cheese master Olive Puentespina; Virginia de Guzman; Glenda Barretto; Cheong Yan See; Nino Angelo Comsti; Raul Ramos; Cristina Legarda; F&B consultant Beth Romualdez, and Kalel Chan.

Renowned Bacolodnon chefs Tom Bascon, Fern Aracama, Jomi Gaston, Sunshine Puey, and Tonyboy Escalante will also be present.

The MassKaNamit Culinary Showdown is held in partnership with Hotel and Restaurant Association of Negros Occidental (HRANO); National Food Showdown (NFS); Council of Hotel and Restaurant Educators of the Philippines (COHREP) and Sabor Bisaya.

FOOD CRAWL

The Bacolod Yuhum Foundation is featuring a food crawl throughout October that will highlight the city’s rich gastronomic culture, making it a delicious opportunity to savor local delicacies such as the famous chicken inasal, cakes, piaya, and cansi.

A food booklet featuring a curated list of restaurants, street food vendors and local delicacies is being distributed at different Bacolod ports, offering travelers an easy guide to exploring the city’s diverse culinary heritage.

Foodies are also invited to experience a variety of dishes from some of Bacolod City’s restos and food stalls during a five-day culinary event hosted by the Bacolod Yuhum Foundation at Upper East, Megaworld, from October 23 to 27.*
