MassKara Coliseum contractor issued final notice

• THERESA MAE DULMAN

Bacolod City Mayor Greg Gasataya has issued a final notice to the contractor handling the construction of the MassKara Coliseum, regarding the project’s timeline.

The city government has set a deadline to Jejor’s Construction Corporation for the completion of the facility, ahead of the MassKara Festival in October.

Gasataya said in a media interview that the construction progress of the coliseum is currently at approximately 74 percent, and would be finished before October.

The project, which carries an estimated cost of over P800 million, is located on a lot between Barangay Alijis and Tangub that was donated to the Bacolod City Government by the Yanson family.

Representatives from the Philippine Sports Commission recently inspected the site, as the coliseum is designated as one of the primary venues for the Batang Pinoy 2026 national youth sports event in December.

The mayor said they would also discuss with the organizers for possible use of the facility for the MassKara Arena Dance Competition in October, as well as future graduation ceremonies for Bacolod City College.*
