Bacolod’s reigning MassKara champions, the Barangay Tangub dancers, are set to dazzle a global audience as they perform today at the prestigious Cathay International Chinese New Year Night Parade in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong.
The 40-member delegation secured their spot after winning the 2025 MassKara Street Dance and Arena Competition. They are accompanied by City Councilors Em Ang, Jason Villarosa, and Homer Bais.
The group was officially invited by the Hong Kong Tourism Board to showcase the ‘City of Smiles during the first day of the Chinese New Year festivities.
According to Tourism Officer and Head of Delegation Teresa Manalili, the Hong Kong Tourism Board covered the travel and accommodation expenses, while the Bacolod City local government unit provided logistical support and allowances for the performers and officials.
The grand parade is scheduled from 8 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. tonight, with street performances kicking off at 6 p.m.
The contingent will mask up and dance through a route starting at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza, traversing Canton Road, Haiphong Road, and Nathan Road, before concluding at the Sheraton Hotel & Towers.*
