MassKara logs zero crime incidents

• GILBERT P. BAYORAN

The police described the MassKara Festival in Bacolod City as generally peaceful and successful, based on zero crime incidents at all festival sites, throughout the 17 days of festivities.

Through collaborative planning and close coordination with the local government unit of Bacolod City and the Bacolod Yuhum Foundation, enhanced police visibility, efficient crowd management, and firm implementation of the rules and regulations of the festival, PCol. Joeresty Coronica, director of the Bacolod City Police Office, said they were able to effectively deter criminal activities, ensuring a safe environment for both residents and tourists.

Almost 1,900 police personnel from Panay Island and other force multipliers beefed up BCPO security forces in maintaining peace and order for the duration of the festivities.

The BCPO’s relentless anti-drug operations also resulted to the confiscation of 4.8 kilos of suspected shabu, with a market value of P33,097,258, from 55 arrested drug personalities, from October 1 to 27, further safeguarding the community during the MassKara festivities, Coronica, further said in his statement.

He also attributed it to the unwavering support of the community and stakeholders, as well as the commitment of BCPO police officers who worked tirelessly round the clock.

Collectively, we have done a great job, Coronica declared.*
