Christopher John Puerta of Barangay Granada, Bacolod City, was adjudged the grand prize winner of the 2nd On-The-Spot MassKara Painting Contest, where 37 contestants from 18 barangays of the city participated, at Robinson’s Place Bacolod Sunday.
The event was part of the activities organized by the Bacolod Yuhum Foundation in partnership with the Art Assocition of Bacolod-Negros, led by its president Tey Sevilleno, and is in line with the celebration of the 44th MassKara Festival celebration in Bacolod City.
Puerta won P15,000 in cash plus a certificate of recognition during the awarding ceremony at the fountain area of Robinson’s Place Bacolod, Tuesday.
Second prize winner was Hannah Sonio of Brgy. Mansilingan, while third prize winner was Rafael Monterde of Brgy. Bata.
Sonio received 7,000 in cash plus a certificate, while Monterde received P3,000 in cash and a certificate.
The 10 consolation prize winners, who each received P1,000 in cash, were Charlein Joy Daulong of Handumanan, Edwin Malinao Jr. of Tangub, Ruben Susvilla of Estefania, Kyla Mediano of Barangay 40, Jean Jayme of Bata; Philip Aldrin Nalang, Gil John Cadivida, and Katherine Lou Maniego, all of Estefania, Eugene Labares of Taculing, and Keith Anthony Tabligan of Singcang-Airport.
The judges were Louis Magalona-Claparols, Gigi Yulo-Villamor, and Gigi Campos as chairman.
The Art Association of Bacolod-Negros is the second longest running art group in the country, next to the Art Association of the Philippines.
The association will be celebrating its golden anniversary in July 2025.*
