Murcia Mayor Gerry Rojas congratulated and thanked the thousands of guests and Murciahanons, particularly the barangay officials, private and public school heads, business establishments, local and national government personnel, civic organizations and force multipliers, for the success of the 30th Tinabuay Festival and 165th Patronal fiesta of the Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Parish.
“Since the opening parade last December 4 until the culmination of Tinabuay Festival today (December 8), I have been amazed by your overwhelming cooperation and support for our town fiesta. I am sincerely grateful for your demonstration of unity and your appreciation for the visible and tangible progress that we have made in our town,” said Rojas during the closing program of the festival.
According to a press release, he emphasized that Murcia has every reason to celebrate, considering that the town did not register a single fatality despite the Kanlaon’s eruption, earthquake and typhoons that occurred in recent months. He thanked Vice-Mayor Johnny Reosura, the Sangguniang Bayan Members, barangay officials and personnel of local and national government agencies for their proactive action which spared the town from casualties.
The festival culmination, which falls on the feast day of the town’s patroness, the Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, started with the annual mass wedding, concelebrated holy mass headed by Bacolod Bishop Patricio Buzon, followed by the popular Street and Arena Dance Competition showcasing seven contestants from individual and clustered barangays.
Declared champion of the Arena Dance Competition was SALVABLUMSANTA-ABORIA (Brgys. Salvacion, Blumentritt, Sta. Cruz, Abo-Abo and Alegria), while DAMTALAYAN (Damsite, Cansilayan and Talotog) and SANBUENALOAN (San Miguel, Buenavista, Lopez Jaena and Iglau-an) bagged the first and second runners-up places, respectively.
In the Street Dance Competition, POBLACION (Zone 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5) emerged champion, while SALVABLUMSANTA-ABORIA was first runner-up and CAMAYROSANON (Canlandog, Amayco, Sta. Rosa and Pandanon Silos) was second runner-up.
Other participants were individual entries of Brgy. Caliban and Brgy. Minoyan.
On the eve of the fiesta, Sofia Ignalague was crowned Reyna sang Tinabuay 2025, while Renza Mae Zayco and Crismir Louise Golmayo were declared first and second runners-up, respectively.
The five-day Murcia fiesta was capped by a spectacular fireworks display and a live performance of rock band Itchyworms during the Tanduay Night.*
