MBCCI requests extension for biz renewals

The president of the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI) has requested acting Bacolod Mayor El Cid Familiaran for the extension of the filing of Mayor’s Permit for 2025 and first quarter payment of business tax to March 31.

Juliana Carbon made the request on behalf of the business community of Bacolod City in her letter dated February 14 to Familiaran, who has been designated by Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez as acting mayor from Feb. 14 to 19.

Taxpayers can avail of a 10 percent discount if they make a one-time payment from Jan. 1 to 20. After Jan. 20, they will not be imposed penalties and surcharges, but can no longer avail of the discount.

Stela Rose Rayos, head of the Bacolod Permits and Licensing Division, said that as of Feb. 14, the total business registrations in Bacolod was at 19,900.

The total business registration for 2024 was 14,690.

Records from the City Treasurer’s Office showed that the total tax collection from the Business One-Stop-Shop (BOSS) as of Feb. 15 was P621,390,940.31, a 44.85 percent increase from last year’s collection.

The total tax collection for 2024 was P944,524,565.21*
