Medtech day celebrated in Bacolod City

The Philippine Association of Medical Technologists, Inc. (PAMET) – Negros Occidental Chapter held its Medical Technology Day Celebration with several events on September 6 at the Sacred Heart Seminary covered court in Bacolod City.

Three medical technology schools in Negros Occidental participated in an Inter-school quiz show. The University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos dominated the 3-round competition and was declared champion. Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod and Fellowship Baptist College- Kabankalan were first and second runners-up, respectively. UNO-R Inter-school quiz show contestants were Nina Llagono, Arman Gonzales, Honey Wind Oriel and Gian Carlo Erasmo.

The awarding ceremony was also held for the winners of the MedTech Awareness Video and Digital Poster Making Competition. The University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos was the winner in the Medtech Awareness Video, produced by its first year medical technology students.

In the Digital Poster making competition, students from the Fellowship Baptist College- Kabankalan dominated. Entry no.5 of Whendolyn Marie Tahum was first place winner, while entry no.3 of Gemma Danielle Amada and entry no.7 of Rowelly Ella Comahig were second and third places, respectively. All winners were awarded with cash prizes and certificates.

Present during the event were PAMET Regional Director for Visayas Maruja Japzon, PAMET Negros Occidental Chapter Vice President Ma. Lovella Benedicto, together with other chapter officers Ma.Therese Garsuta, Sylvia Azurin, Liza Santillan, April Joy de la Rama, Gemma de los Reyes, and Karl Bravo.

Presidential Proclamation 1181 declared the 3rd week of September each year as the Medical Technology Week. The Philippine Association of Medical Technologists Inc. (PAMET) will spearhead the various activities throughout the country of the 52nd MedTech Week on September 15 to 21, 2024.*
