“Nature’s Narrative,” a solo art exhibit of Negrense visual artist Olive Torres, opened at McCafe at McDonald’s, The Upper East, Bacolod City on July 14 and will run until August 4.
Torres, a member of the Artisticrew and Negrense Artist Circle Inc. (NACI), is a freelance artist who pursued her passion for the art after decades of service as a medical technologist.
Born in a small fishing village down south, she has always been in awe of flora and fauna – which explains why they are her frequent subjects.
Her artistic approach has changed in recent years leaning more towards the grace of abstract painting.
She is consistently enthralled by swirls and drips of acrylic pours where the uncertainty of the result adds to her excitement.
In “Nature’s Narrative,” delicate petals and leaves, and vibrant wildlife come alive on handmade recycled paper. Each piece tells a story of the artist’s connection with nature. The artworks reveal the artist’s deep appreciation for the gift of nature.
The artist’s use of recycled paper adds an eco-friendly dimension, underscoring the importance of preserving the natural world for future generations.
