Megaworld Corporation has committed to donating a plot of land to the City of Bacolod for the construction of a police substation, Emergency Medical Services base, and a Bureau of Fire Protection facility.
According to Mayor Greg Gasataya, the city government reached out to the corporation last year to request the donation of land, and through verbal communication, the management committed to donate.
The mayor noted that the specific details, including the exact size of the lot area, are currently being finalized.
“If the funds are enough, we can also transfer Police Station 4 and the Bureau of Fire from Lopez Jaena [street],” Gasataya said.
He added that while the city is not expecting a large tract of land, the primary goal is to establish a strategic hub where various government emergency and security services can be centralized for the public’s benefit.*
