A minor was reported by the police to have drowned on Sunday at Troso River in Brgy. Daga, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental.
Initial police investigations showed that the 9-year-old victim, a resident of Hacienda Bayabas 3 in the barangay, went for a swim with his friends.
Herman Aceves, the father of the victim, told the Cadiz police that he went to look for his son after the latter failed to return home.
Aceves later found his son floating in the river.
The victim was brought by responding personnel of the City Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Office to the Cadiz Emergency Clinic, where he was declared dead on arrival by Dr. Gary Chua, police said.*
