Minor in Talisay shooting incident dies

A minor who was injured in a shooting incident, and was expected by the police to help in the identification of suspects behind the attack that claimed the lives of his mother and elder brother in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, died on Wednesday night, at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, in Bacolod City.

The 8-year-old victim, whose name was withheld, died a day after he and his mother, Sherly, and elder brother, Jason, were waylaid and shot by still unidentified suspects, while on their way home, on March 28, in Hacienda Ledesma, Brgy. Matab ang, Talisay City.

Sherly Española, 50, and her son, Jason, 28, died on the spot, according to the police.

The minor sustained a gunshot wound in the stomach but initially survived the shooting incident.

Police probers were banking on the testimonies of the minor, who reportedly managed to identify their assailants.

The Talisay City police is eyeing personal grudges as the motive of killings.*
