May the best man win, Benjie Miranda said, as he confirmed his re-election bid for the post of Kabankalan mayor.
Almost 10 months from the expected filing of Certificate of Candidacy in October, for the 2025 midterm elections, Mayor Benjie Miranda yesterday declared that he is seeking reelection as mayor of Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.
“I have no choice but to run again as mayor,” Miranda said, adding that the majority of the people he consulted wants him to continue his service to Kabankalanons, as the local chief executive.
“My force comes from the people, and not from myself,” stressed Miranda, who defeated Pedro Zayco by 278 votes during the 2022 mayoralty race.
There are initial reports that the Kabankalan City 2025 mayoralty race will be a three-cornered fight, between Miranda, former Mayor Isidro Zayco, and Sixth District Board Member Valentino Miguel Alonso.
Miranda disclosed that Kabankalan City is open to anyone who wants to run for public office.
“I opened the city to anyone willing to run. I don’t say that someone is not good to run. Those who dream to serve can run. We also have the same intention and that is to serve the people,” he pointed out.
May the best man win, Miranda said.
He reported that he recently took his oath as a member of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas, the political party of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
On the other hand, the 10-day 48th Sinulog Festival of Kabankalan City in Negros Occidental, was described by Miranda as “successful” and had “peaceful celebrations,” due to the cooperation of his fellow Kabankalanons and the vigilance of authorities.*
