A 57-year-old woman was reported by the police to have been found dead on Sunday, at a river in Hacienda Agustine, Brgy. Bagroy, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental.
The victim, believed to have drowned, was identified by the police as Semme Olveros, of Sitio Agbalangao, Brgy. Amontay, Binalbagan.
Initial investigation of the Binalbagan police indicated that the victim, her son and grandson, were crossing a river at Sitio Kabalantianan in the barangay on September 15, when they were carried away by a strong current.
Two days later, the decomposing body of the victim was found floating at the river. However, the fate of her son and grandson has not been established by the Binalbagan police, as of this time.
On September 15, a 3-year-old girl also drowned after a strong current swept her away in Sitio Tikoy Tikoy, Brgy. Cabacungan, La Castellana, according to the police.*
