Twenty-six seasoned and upcoming Negrense artists join Artfull Gallery in celebration of National Arts Month this February 1-28, 2022 in a month-long exhibit called “Mixed Signals” in Bacolod City.

The exhibit will feature more than 50 recent artworks (2021-2022) with subjects such as Negros landscapes, daily life, flora and fauna, people, contemporary, and abstract expressed in all medium like watercolors, oil, acrylic, coffee, terra cotta, and mosaic.

“We have invited different artists to celebrate this year’s arts month because we believe that our Negrosanon artists are continuously cultivating their craft. We, as artists in Negros, are producing many works in whatever global or economic weather we are in,” Artfull art director and creative manager Tey Sevilleno quipped pertaining to the recent effects of Typhoon Odette and the ongoing pandemic.

Veteran artists like Rodney Martinez, Ramon Delos Santos, Revo Yanson, and Edbon Sevilleno join with several of their signature styles. Artfull resident artists Vicky Gasper, Tiano Beto, Ryn Paul Gonzales, Tey Sevilleno, Dr. Obee Canlas, and Maymay Camarines are also in participation along with Silaynon artists Istudio Dayonart and Ian Valladarez.

Dr. Obee Canlas, a retired dentist and mixed-media artist and ceramicist, added, “It is great to bring together these talented artists in the spirit of community and cooperation, creating new milestones for the group. While I am physically unable and far from the actual activity, I am pursuing a continuous study on ceramics to further develop my knowledge and manipulation of the medium which I intend to impart in our community in Bacolod. I am sincerely hoping that when I get back in the middle of the year, Artfull can add to its workshops pottery and ceramics.”

Artfull Gallery at 18th-Lacson Streets (near Starbucks Lacson) is a Bacolod-based art collective which has a gallery, cafe, shop, workshop spaces, and creative studio.
