The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office and the Army’s 303rd Infantry Brigade dismissed yesterday as “fake news” the reported presence of members of the Moro National Liberation Front in Don Salvador Benedicto, Negros Occidental, in November last year.
“We have not received such information,” provincial police deputy spokesperson, P/Lt. Abegael Donasco, said.
Col. Michael Samson, officer-in-charge of the 303rd IB, also said they have not monitored any information on the alleged presence of MNLF members in DSB.
There were reports in the social media of an attempt by some alleged MNLF members to pass by Salvador Benedicto town from Murcia, in going to San Carlos City, but they were intercepted because they had no licenses to drive motorcycles.
“It’s not true,” Donasco said. The MNLF in Mindanao is led by its chairman, Nur Misuari, with more than 300 rogue members involved in the failed Zamboanga siege in 2013.*
