Moises Padilla Mayor Ella Celestina Garcia-Yulo has secured two nominations in the prestigious 38th Annual Aliw Awards, while the town’s cultural celebration – the Magayon Hinuptanan Festival – also earned a nomination under the Best Festival category.
The Aliw Awards, the country’s first and longest-running recognition body for excellence in live entertainment, will be held on December 15, at the Manila Hotel Fiesta Pavilion in Manila.
In recognition of her leadership in strengthening the cultural and artistic programs of Moises Padilla, Garcia-Yulo was selected for two categories: Best Festival Catalyst/Organizer and Best Festival Director.
According to a press statement from the municipal government, she is nominated alongside other mayors and festival officials from across the Philippines – a clear sign of Moises Padilla’s growing prominence in the national cultural scene.
The Magayon Hinuptanan Festival was nominated for Best Festival Practices and Performance, an award that acknowledges quality, exemplary execution, and the cultural significance of festivals.
The Aliw Awards was founded in 1976 by journalist Alice H. Reyes under the National Press Club of the Philippines. It annually honors the best performers in concerts, theater, dance, comedy, and other live entertainment genres – a tradition that began with its inaugural ceremony in 1977.*
