The municipal government of Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, which was battered by Typhoon Tino in November last year, is doubling its efforts for the implementation of infrastructure projects in the hinterlands, including those destroyed by the typhoon.
Moises Padilla Mayor Ella Celestina Garcia-Yulo disclosed on Saturday that the bidding for the construction of a hanging footbridge in Barangay Macagahay started two weeks ago, which will be followed by the construction of another footbridge that will connect the barangays of Guinpana-an and Quintin Remo, which will be funded by the municipal government.
The municipal government is also asking for a budget from the national government to fund the construction of a bridge which will connect Brgy. Inolingan to the town proper, as the hanging bridge was also destroyed by Typhoon Tino.
Garcia-Yulo said that the Inolingan overflow bridge can only accommodate light vehicles during the rainy season.
A two-hectare lot donated to the municipal government by Eric Golez, an uncle of Mayor Garcia-Yulo, will be used as a relocation site for more than 300 families, whose homes were destroyed by Typhoon Tino.
The mayor clarified that the relocation is voluntary.
To support the construction of housing, Yulo said she will seek additional assistance from the Negros Occidental provincial government and 5th district Representative Emilio Bernardino Yulo, to secure building materials.*
