The Moises Padilla municipal government has started the distribution of P20 million in financial assistance from the Office of the President, with the first batch of beneficiaries receiving aid on February 16, at the town municipal auditorium.
Mayor Ella Celestina Garcia-Yulo led the initial rollout, where 894 families from Barangays 1, 2, 3, 5, and 7 each received P1,600. The total amount released on the first day reached nearly P1.5 million. Distribution will continue throughout the week, covering residents from Barangays Macagahay, Montilla, and Quintin
Mayor Garcia-Yulo explained that the local government is prioritizing the first P10 million tranche coursed through the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental. This portion is being distributed first due to a strict 90-day utilization deadline and existing manpower limitations at the municipal level.
The remaining P10 million, which was granted directly by the Office of the President to the LGU, will be released after the initial tranche has been fully disbursed.
Garcia-Yulo clarified that the presidential assistance is separate from the Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). She said the DSWD will conduct its own independent distribution for ECT beneficiaries.
The P20 million presidential assistance is intended to support families in Moises Padilla, particularly those affected by recent disasters and economic challenges, as part of ongoing national government relief efforts, the mayor said.*
