An additional 1,999 employees of two business process outsourcing (BPO) companies in Bacolod City received their COVID-19 vaccine jabs in separate on-site vaccination activities held Saturday.

Of the total number, 1,433 were employees of PanAsiatic Solutions, while the other 566 workers were from Teleperformance, according to City Administrator Em Ang, concurrent executive director of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and coordinator of the COVID-19 Vaccination Council (CoVaC).

MAYOR APPEAL

Mayor Evelio Leonardia, who chairs both the EOC and CoVaC, speaking before PanAsiatic Solutions employees at their on-site vaccination said, “You know how important vaccines are; most of those who are hospitalized are unvaccinated. Please help us educate and encourage others to get vaccinated, especially your family members.”

Ang said business owners of food establishments near the Bacolod City Government Center and tricycle drivers at the terminal near Lopue’s East were also inoculated Saturday.

The vaccination teams were led by City Health Office officer-in-charge Dr. Edwin Miraflor Jr. and EOC Deputies Medical Dr. Chris Sorongon and Dr. Anna Maria Laarni Pornan.

On August 14, a total of 1,112 workers of PanAsiatic Solutions were inoculated, making Saturday’s affair the second onsite vaccination at the company, supervised by their Site Director Siony Hijara-Ferraris, General Manager and Operations Director Rogie Arceñas, and HR Manager and CompBen Ma. Teresa Nolasco.

On September 4, onsite workplace vaccination was also conducted at ARB Call Facilities where a total of 372 employees were inoculated.

Various innovative and aggressive vaccination strategies have been introduced by the EOC and CoVaC that all geared towards achieving herd immunity in Bacolod.

Among these strategies is the “Graveyard Shift Vaccination Drive” for night-duty BPO workers, the 24/7 vaccination drive, VAX-i mobile bus vaccination, the drive-thru vaccination, the “BigJab Weekend” at two major malls, mall-based inoculations, and onsite vaccination at BPO firms.

“Vaccination is currently the leading public health strategy to end the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to fast-track our vaccination program, we are reaching out to as many workers and populous sectors as possible and making COVID-19 vaccines accessible to all eligible persons,” Ang said.*
