After what MORE Power has achieved over the past three years in Iloilo City, its local government and business sector leaders are endorsing the Joint Venture Agreement between Central Negros Electric Cooperative and power distribution facility.

Citing the experiences of Iloilo City with the entry of MORE Power, Mayor Jerry Treñas told visiting Bacolod-based journalists on Friday that they have now stable power supply and competitive power rates, which created a significant impact to the lives of its people, especially businesses, as he noted the coming in of more investors.

“I would encourage Bacolod City to do the same”, Treñas said, a statement also supported by Terence Uygongco, chair of the Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce Iloilo Inc.

I think if a power company dedicated to improving the lives of the people, like MORE Power, then it should be given a chance to also improve lives in Bacolod City, the Iloilo mayor said.

For Uygongco, “If there is an opportunity, I think, it is now time to listen, assess and consider, because they have change the landscape of Iloilo in reliable power distribution.”

On the business side and power consumers, they have nothing to lose if they study, welcome or embrace the JVA, the business group leader said, adding that “ultimately, it would benefit consumers.”

Msgr. Meliton Oso, director of the Social Action Center of the Diocese of Jaro, said he noted a big difference in the management of former electric cooperative and MORE Power, as far as the service is concerned.

Ceneco serves Bacolod City and neighboring local government units in Negros Occidental.

“Grab the opportunity with MORE Power,” Treñas said, stressing that its “partnership” with distribution utility was very advantageous, not only in the improvement of power stability, but also in corporate social responsibility, such as in the preservation of environment.

MORE Power, which is consumer-friendly, delivered good services to Iloilo, worked closely with us, he stressed.

With reliable power supply in Iloilo, more BPO companies invest here, Treñas added, noting also big drop in system loses being charged to consumers, following electrification of more than 30,000 Iloilo household, who used to be involved pilferage of electricity.*
