More skeletal remains found in Murcia canefield

• THERESA MAE DULMAN

An unidentified set of human skeletal remains were discovered in a sugarcane field at Hacienda Rojas, La Purisima Concepcion, Barangay Blumentritt, Murcia, Negros Occidental, on Saturday morning.

The discovery was reported to the Murcia Municipal Police Station (MPS) at approximately 9:30 a.m. by Ronilo Alisin, the overseer of nearby Hacienda Maasin.

According to initial police investigations, a sugarcane farm worker first stumbled upon the remains while applying fertilizer to the crops, prompting Alisin to inspect the area and immediately alert the authorities.

The Murcia MPS requested assistance from the Scene of the Crime Operatives to process the scene.

Two sets of human remains have been previously discovered in Murcia’s sugarcane fields, in October and December 2025, in Barangay Salvacion.*
