More than 100 join off-road triathlon

One hundred ten triathletes take part in the race with 1km swim, 23km tri bike and 8km trail run* San Carlos PIO photos

The local government of San Carlos City through the San Carlos Association of Mountain Bikers (SCAMB) held their fifth off-road triathlon which started at Park Marina in the city on June 26.

A total of 110 triathletes from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao took part in the race with 1km swim, 23km tri bike and 8km trail run.

SCAMB president Jose Angelo Cosas thanked the local government for its consistent support to make the event possible, adding that the race is more challenging because of the many obstacles on the race track that goes through the mountains.

Race categories include men’s elite, 29 below, 30-39 years old, 40-49 years old and 50 up, while the women’s categories include elite, 39 below and 40 up.

Winners of the Men’s and Women’s Elite each received a cash prize of P15,000 for the first place, and P10,000 and P5,000 for second and third places, respectively, while the Relay Mix winners received P8,000, P6,000 and P4,000 for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places, respectively. All winners also received trophies.

In other categories, winners received trophies and all finishers got medals.

The winners of the off-road triathlon were:  Men’s Elite – John Alcala – 1st place, Jonathan Paguara – 2nd place and 3rd place, JP Catan; Men’s 29 below: Edgie Bulibuli – 1st place, Sebastian Teves – 2nd place and Marcus Arellano – 3rd place; Men’s 30-39: Eljan Pelegrino – 1st place, Henpazeer Adjilani – 2nd place and Raul Javelosa – 3rd place; Men’s 40-49: Arvy Bargamento – 1st place, Edmar Balandaca – 2nd place and 3rd place – Carlo Magno Rivera; and for 50 Up: Victor Antonio Nola Jr. – 1st place, Audie Michael Litrada – 2nd place; and Tirso James Mabulac – 3rd place.

The Women’s Elite category winners were Ellaiza Nicole Rojo, 1st place, Arianna Danielle Lim – 2nd place and 3rd place – Hannah Maris Manguilimotan; 39 below: Andrea Zayide Guarana – 1st place, Bea Marie Litonjua – 2nd place and Charity Rose Orcena – 3rd place.

In the Relay Mix category, the winners were Team Cool Cycles – 1st place, Big Boiz Tri – 2nd place and Trinity – 3rd place.*
