More than 100 sacks of garbage were collected by the Bacolod City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office from the Libertad public market over the weekend, city executive assistant, Joemarie Vargas, said yesterday.
Vargas, who is the cluster head of the CDRRMO, said they also cleared the area of the Burgos Public Market yesterday while the City Engineer’s Office conducted clearing operations around the City Central Market last week.
He said that aside from clearing the areas of the three public markets of garbage, they also declogged the drainage systems.
Vargas added that the CEO and the CDRRMO will conduct the cleanup of national highways in Bacolod as part of anti-flood prevention efforts.
The CDRRMO also disinfected the three major markets on Saturday to ensure the safety of marketgoers.*
