More than P7M aid for fire-affected families

• THERESA MAE DULMAN

A total of P2,865,000 million financial assistance was allocated by the Bacolod City Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD) to 290 families affected by fire that hit Barangay 27, last Sept. 12.

According to DSSD, 141 families with totally damaged property will receive P15,000, 1 sharer with partial damage will get P10,000, while 148 sharers and renters will be given P5,000.

Meanwhile, the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Developments (DHSUD) will be allocating P4.3 million to the fire-affected homeowners.

Each family with totally damaged homes will be receiving P30,000, while those who have partially damaged properties will get P10,000.

However, only property owners are eligible for the DHSUD financial assistance, which will be based on DSSD data.

Mayor Greg Gasataya said that they are already processing the city’s financial assistance and will be distributing it within the week, after validating the affected families.

Aside from the combined P7 million assistance from DSSD and DHSUD, Gasataya stated that they are also expecting aid from other national government agencies.

The 290 internally displaced families are from Purok Acacia I, Cheriza I, and Cheriza II, of Barangay 27.*
