More war materiel was seized from the sugar mill of former Negros Oriental Gov. Henry Teves, during the continuous implementation of the search warrant by the joint elements of the PNP and Joint Task Force Negros on March 27.

Dug up from the HDJ Bayawan Agri-Venture Corp. Tolong Compound in Brgy. Caranoche, Sta. Catalina town were one unit Steyr rifle, caliber 5.56mm, with a sniper scope with three magazines.

Also recovered were 359 .9mm rounds; 114 rounds for caliber 5.7x28mm; 100 rounds for caliber .380; 149 rounds for caliber .25; 76 rounds for caliber 5.56mm; 852 rounds for caliber 7.62mm; 42 fired cartridges for 9mm; one fired cartridge for caliber 5.56mm; one rifle bag; and one travel bag.

On March 26, government forces also seized firearms, magazines and numerous ammunition from the same compound.

Brig. Gen. Marion Sison, the Joint Task Force Negros commander, commended the troops of the 302nd Infantry Brigade for consistently providing support to the law enforcement operations of the PNP in Negros Oriental.

“Our soldiers shall continue assisting our PNP in its law enforcement actions in Negros Oriental to restore normalcy in the province and win back the trust and confidence of the people in the government,” Sison said.

The series of raids, which started on Friday, was carried out by virtue of a search warrant for violations of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, issued by Judge Allan Francisco Garciano of Mandaue City.

In previous days, the CIDG-led search yielded several firearms, explosives, and ammunition that were recovered from separate areas in the sugar mill compound.

Former Negros Oriental Gov. Pryde Henry Teves, the president of the company that owns the sugar mill, is the subject of the search warrant.* with PNA reports
