A man tagged as the most wanted person of Bago City, Negros Occidental, was apprehended by the Bacolod City police at about 8:30 a.m. yesterday at the junction of Mabini and Libertad streets.
P/Lt. Liberty Indiape, spokesperson of the BCPO, said the Criminal Investigation Unit and Police Station 6 operatives arrested Romeo Giganto, 49, of Brgy. Napoles in Bago City, on the strength of an arrest warrant issued by Bago Regional Trial Court Branch 62 Judge Frances Guanzon, who denied him bail.
Indiape said Giganto was also tagged as the 8th most wanted person of the Bacolod Police Station 1.
The police said Giganto went into hiding after he shot and killed a resident of Brgy. Napoles in April last year.
Indiape also reported the arrest of Ildefonso Opilda, 64, in his residence in Purok Laurel, Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod, yesterday. Opilda is wanted for rape charges and had an arrest warrant issued by Bacolod Regional Trial Court Branch 43 Judge Philadelfa Pagapong-Agraviador, who set his bail at P300,000.*
