A 27-year-old mother and her daughter, a minor, were killed, while three others were reported by the police to have been injured, after being shot by an unidentified armed suspects on Wednesday at Purok Skid 8 in Barangay Nabulao, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental.
Initial police investigations showed that the unidentified suspects, armed with an M16 assault rifle, barged into the house of the victims and shot at them, without any reason.
Alias Jona, 27; and her 3-year-old daughter, were both killed, while alias Benny, 62; alias Remrem, 46; and a 9-year-old child, suffered gunshot injuries at the right shoulder, left leg, and left and right hands, respectively, according to the Sipalay City police.
Recovered from the scene of the incident were 36 fired cartridges of an M16 assault rifle.
Police investigations further showed that two suspects were involved in the commission of the crime.
The gunman was reported to have fled on board a motorcycle.
On the other hand, the Armando Sumayang Jr. Command (ASJC) – New People’s Army in southern Negros issued a statement claiming responsibility for the killing of a certain Gamay Lendio in Sitio Abo, Brgy. Manlocahoc, Sipalay City on April 22.*
