In celebration of Mother’s Day, the Mixlada Art Group in partnership with SM City-Bacolod opened a group art exhibition at the mall’s Event Center Tuesday that will run until May 31.
The show titled “Handog kay Nanay” features the works of about 29 Negrense visual artists which highlights “mothers and flowers” in different medium.
Mother’s Day, a holiday in honor of mothers that is celebrated in countries throughout the world, over time was expanded to include others, such as grandmothers and aunts, who played mothering roles.
This year, Mother’s Day in the Philippines will be celebrated on May 18.





Guests of honor at the opening were May Castro and Kristine Ledesma, SM-Bacolod public relations manager, and senior marketing manager, respectively, and Chrysee Samillano, vice president of the Art Association of Bacolod-Negros.
The participating artists include Ma. Sarah Stephanie Bilbao, Sherwynn Cadianza, Agustin Chavez, February Cheryl, Juliet Emperado, Cyrene Cuenca, Mai Cuenca, Roselyn Cañete-Cuenca, Joshua Decolongon, Arlene Gomez, Konica Faustino, Malou Flores, T-Ray Perez, Wen Quilisadio, Jerrylyn Mangao, Steve Maquiling, Patty Jane Ku-Ong, Christine Joan Ragudo, Mae Nicole Subebe, Ziarene Talamillo, Jacquiline Tamayor, Zhyenaiah Tonogbanua, Marie Amiscua-Resurreccion, Chrysee Samillano, Cora Soriano, Sugar Tonogbanua, Anthony Tonogbanua, Yandra Gabrielle Vinch, and Marides Zayco.
