Motorcycle slams into road sign, back rider killed

A motorcycle driven by a 25-year-old male ran into a road sign along Purok 4, Barangay Isio, Cauayan, Negros Occidental, at around 1 a.m. on Thursday, resulting in the death of his back rider.

Killed was a 16-year-old student given the alias “John,” while the injured driver was the 25-year-old alias “Jerry.” Both were residents of the barangay.

Initial investigation revealed that the victims were traversing from Barangay Poblacion toward Barangay Isio when they struck the road sign, causing them to fall on a pavement near the Yummy Bakeshop store.

As a result, both victims sustained injuries on different parts of their bodies and were brought to Cauayan District Hospital.

The back rider sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

The motorcycle sustained damage that required assessment by a competent mechanic and is presently under the custody of this station for proper disposition.

BAGO CITY

Two drivers were injured in a three-vehicle collision along the National Highway of Purok Proper South, Barangay Taloc, Bago City, Negros Occidental, at around 6:30 p.m. of the same date.

Initial investigation revealed that the Toyota Vios driven by an alias ‘Eliseo,’ who was together with his wife as his passenger, alias ‘Belin,’ was southbound on the highway when it collided with the rear portion of the Suzuki Carry multi-cab driven by an alias ‘Richard.’

Police said that the multi-cab had stopped, preparing for a left turn. However, the impact of the collision caused it to move to the other side of the highway where it was hit by an oncoming Mitsubishi Fighter truck driven by the alias ‘Joven,’ who was Bacolod City bound, in the proper lane.

After the collision, the driver of the Toyota Vios lost control of his vehicle, swerved to the right, and fell to the pavement.

The driver of the Toyota Vios, his passenger, and the driver of the multi-cab all sustained injuries, while the driver of the Mitsubishi truck was unharmed.

All involved vehicles were brought to the police station for legal disposition.

BACOLOD CITY

A 46-year-old woman was killed at around 5 a.m. yesterday while crossing a road in Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City.

The victim was identified as Claire, a resident of Barangay Bata, while the motorcycle driver was given the alias ‘John,’ 24, with his backrider, alias ‘Mikko,’ 21, both residents of E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental.

The motorcycle was traveling in a south-to-north direction when it hit the victim who was crossing the street.

The driver and backrider were transported to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, and then were taken into custody of the Bacolod City Police Office Station 3.*
