Saudi-based, multi-award winning international visual artist Larry Carumba, who has a divine talent for naturalistic art, opened his solo art exhibit for a cause Tuesday at Saltimboca Tourist Inn, 15th-Lacson streets, Bacolod City.
The fundraising campaign project for the benefit of the Divine Mercy Home for the Elderly in Bagtic, Silay City is being held in collaboration with the Carmelite Missionaries.
Also in January this year, the OFW Congress Organization in Saudi Arabia organized an auction where Carumba’s painting generated P280,000 for Balay Kalinga in Riyadh for the benefit of OFWs in distress.
“OFWs in distress are close to my heart. I can connect to them because I have been in their situation,” he said.
Carumba, who hails from Victorias City, is a recipient of the Pamana ng Pilipino Presidential Award, Bagong Bayani 2014 for Culture and the Arts, OFW Congress President’s Award, Sidlak and Malihaw Award, Emirates Finest Business Award, Philippine Elite for Visual Arts, Outstanding Filipino for Culture and the Arts in the Entire Gulf Countries, The Filipino Times Exemplary Filipino in the Gulf, and Illustrado – Most Influential Filipino in the Gulf, among others.
He also won several art competitions abroad.*
