Turnover of 36 printers to school heads of DepEd Murcia District I, headed by supervisor Erna Dogelio, and the turnover of 12 laptops to the members of the Sangguniang Bayan*

Murcia Mayor Victor Gerardo Rojas recently turned over 72 printers to all public elementary and secondary schools in the town to help the teachers print the modules for their students, in line with the Distance Learning Modality.

“Education is one of the primary thrusts of my administration. We allocate a budget for the Special Education Fund, so that we can have the resources to support the needs of Murcia’s Local School Board for the benefit of our learners and welfare of our noble teachers,” Rojas said.

The printers were received in separate turnover ceremonies by the school heads of Murcia’s public schools, under DepEd Murcia District I supervisor Erna Dogelio and District II supervisor Mylene Cornel, a press release from the city said.

Leticia Benares (4th from left) recently donated a one-hectare property for a school site in Purok Tumpok, Brgy. Blumentritt, Murcia, and witnessing the signing of the deed of donation with Mayor Gerry Rojas were DepEd Murcia District I supervisor Erna Dogelio, Tumpok Elementary School PTA president Joan Abenosa, and principal Cyprus Doromal*

During the turnover of the printers for District I, the Office of the Mayor also distributed 12 laptops for members of the Sangguniang Bayan to make it more accessible for them to attend their Zoom sessions and other virtual meetings.

“Thank you, thank you so much! In this pandemic, schools have a problem with printing. We are printing not hundreds, not thousands but millions of pages of modules to be delivered by the teachers to the learners not only in schools but also in far-flung areas,” Dogelio said.

“Without these printers, the teachers will have a really difficult time printing the modules. In the non-stop printing of modules for one or two years, the printers bog down, even if they are brand new, because of the sheer volume of the printing jobs. These printers will greatly help in the delivery of the modular learning mode to our learners in Murcia,” she added.

In behalf of the students, parents, and the teachers, Dogelio thanked Rojas, Vice-Mayor Johnny Reosura, all SB members, and the Local School Board for the printers.

She also reminded the school heads to facilitate the proper distribution and utilization of these printers, and to take extra care of the equipment, so that they can last until the next school year, the press release said.

Recently, the local government also turned over grass cutters to different schools in the town for their clean-up activities, and a hand-washing station, cement and paint to Alegria Elementary School.

Next month, the extension campus of the Central Philippine State University will start its classes in the newly-refurbished building at the former Nonescost site in Brgy. Salvacion.

“This is the first public tertiary school in Murcia. Since it is a public school, it offers free education to the initial 140 students in BS Information Technology and BS Agribusiness. Next school year, the students will double in size and increase in number every year, until such time that we can have a full-pledged CPSU campus in Murcia,” Rojas said.

“This is a great opportunity for Murcia students and a tremendous help to their parents. The school manifests our utmost concern for the education of our constituents, and it is a major accomplishment which the incumbent Murcia officials are very thankful for,” he added.

Another public school is also in the works in Brgy. Blumentritt, after Leticia Benares and her family recently donated a one-hectare lot for a school site in Purok Tumpok in the barangay.*
