The Municipality of Murcia will conduct the election of officers of the Liga ng mga Barangay on December 15, in compliance with the schedule mandated by the Department of Interior and Local Government and the Liga ng mga Barangay sa Pilipinas.

“The Liga ng mga Barangay election in Murcia was initially scheduled on December 12, in compliance with the DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2023-183 issued on November 21, which provides that the Liga election for highly urbanized cities, cities and municipalities should be conducted not later than December 15,” said Murcia DILG Head Marisa Costelo.

“In light of the memo from the Liga ng mga Barangay ng Pilipinas issued on November 29, we will hold the synchronized Liga election on December 15, together with other municipalities, cities and highly urbanized cities,” Costelo added.

Murcia is composed of 23 barangays. The town’s newly-elected barangay officials took their oath of office before Mayor Gerry Rojas during the mass oath-taking ceremony on November 17.

Also present during the activity were Vice Mayor Johnny Reosura, councilors Philip Belleza, Pidong Villarosa, Kedy Yu, Bebot Gomez, Ader Olimpo, Hernan Alintana and SBM Anton Gonzaga, Murcia COMELEC Head Christian Leigh Rasonable, Murcia DILG Head Marisa Costelo and department heads, as well as families and friends of the newly-elected Barangay Chairmen and Councils.*
